V rámci komunikace v kolejových vozidlech a mezi nimi se úspěšně využívá ethernetových sítí, které se osvědčují jako levný a spolehlivý prostředek komunikace, v reálném čase. Ethernetové prvky vlakové sítě splňují náročné požadavky na odolnosti proti extrémním teplotám, prašnosti, vlhkosti, dále proti vibracím a elektromagnetickému rušení. Samozřejmostí je vysoká spolehlivost ethernetové komunikace a možnost redundantního provozu pro zajištění kontinuální komunikace i při poruše některé ze síťových komponent nebo přerušení kabelu.

Prvky vlakové sítě (přepínače, převodníky, routery) nabízíme v provedení v souladu s EN 50155, v širokém rozsahu stejnosměrného napájení (24 V / 36 V / 110 V) a s podporou požadavku vlastního napájení zařízení prostřednictvím ethernetu (PoE napájení např. u IP kamer, zařízení IP audio systému apod.), s konektory M12 nebo RJ45.

Ethernet vlaková síť umožňuje přenášet:

data řídicího systému
- např. signály pro ovládání automatického zavírání a blokování dveří, pro řízení osvětlení a jiných technologií
bezpečnostní data
data obsahující informace pro cestující
- např. signál rozhlasu a dalších multimediálních zařízení pro informování cestujících o jízdě kolejového vozidla a i pro jejich zábavu
