In the past few days the installation of the railway version of the Starlink satellite antenna from SpaceX into the three-car unit InterPanter 660 004 of the carrier České dráhy a.s. was successfully completed in the depot of České dráhy in Brno-Maloměřice. AMiT Transportation participated in the project and, in close cooperation with Škoda Group, provided technical integration of the components into the train unit and connection of the antenna system to the on-board infrastructure; measurements were performed by ČD-Telematika and the Czech Telecommunications Office.
The Starlink satellite technology is installed on the roof of the front carriage of the unit. The cable connection to the power supply was integrated into the existing infrastructure of the train as part of the installation, with AMiT Transportation making a significant technical contribution. The antenna is heated and designed to operate in extreme climatic conditions from severe frost to hot summer days. Starlink is connected to InterPanter’s existing on-board Wi-Fi and multimedia system. Passengers continue to connect via ČD Wi-Fi, while the public internet service remains free of charge to passengers.
